Description
Story-For-Sequencing-Events – This is a comprehension pack for the story ‘What the ladybird heard’ by Julia Donaldson. Sequencing main events can be tricky for young students however, this pack provides coloured pictures that teachers/tutors/speech therapists can use to model the strategy and black and white pictures that the students can use.
Included in ‘Story for sequencing events’ pack:
- 18 page PDF printable document (includes cover pages)
- Colour AND black and white pictures
- Sequencing 6 main events from the story
- Differentiated tasks: sequence sentences from the story
- Read & draw tasks (from same main events) – read (or listen), visualise & draw
Educators can use these coloured pictures by laminating and placing magnetic strips on the back to model the strategy as a whole class activity. These picture cards can also be used when retelling the story as a ‘storyboard’. There are so many uses to this product. This story has been used in my Year One classroom.

Thanks so much. I laminated these pictures and used them when we were doing our class storyboard retell. I’m trying to use the talk4writing but these cards really help. I can’t draw well or quickly, so it’s been such a help. Once I did this modelling several times, I used the worksheets with my class and the students could sequence the events really easily. I love your graphics too. The black and white option saved my school printing budget.
